Inspiration for Life Purpose

Passover, Palm Sunday, and Holy Week

Jesus Christ is Our Passover Lamb

"Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed." -- 1 Corinthians 5:7 NIV

Passover began last night, and it is a time to remember the victory God gained over Pharaoh and Egypt, delivering His people, Israel, from bondage and slavery. It is the time before the final plague, the death of the firstborn, when God told Moses and Aaron to instruct Israel to eat the Passover meal in haste and apply the blood of a lamb or goat to the doorposts (top and sides of their doors) of their homes. He told them, “When I see the blood, death will pass over you.”

Now, under the New Covenant, Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. So we commemorate Passover not only by remembering how God brought his people out of Egypt but also by recognizing that everything in Exodus 12 was pointing to Christ. What the blood of bulls and goats could never do, the blood of Jesus Christ, our Passover lamb, has done forever. We are redeemed by His blood. His blood struck a final blow to eternal death, hell, and grave, giving us eternal life.

So, let’s remember Jesus Christ tonight and during this holy week. Let’s remember what He did for us on the Cross and retrace His steps before He rose again.

Palm Sunday

Today, Palm Sunday, is the beginning of Holy and the day of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. But the issue is not palm branches. It is whether Jerusalem knew the time of her visitation. The religious leaders were offended by His riding on a donkey, and the children had to cry out, “Hosanna to the son of David.” They–the children–were the ones with revelation. So, today is day to resist the leaven of the Pharisees and embrace child-like faith in the fulfillment of prophecy and what Jesus did for us on the Cross. We’ll be discussing these things more today at 6pm US Eastern time.
