Post-Pentecost Breakthrough: A Harvest is Coming

Two weeks ago, we celebrated Pentecost. Most believers commemorated the coming of the Holy Spirit and the launch of the New Testament church—and they were right to associate Pentecost with those things. But it was also the beginning of the Feast of Weeks or the Feast of Harvest, which is the Jewish celebration of the beginning of the wheat harvest. That’s why the Jews were in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost anyway. They were all gathered there—devout Jews from every nation—to celebrate the Feast of Weeks, also known as the Feast of Harvest (Acts 2:5 MSG). That celebration always happens on the fiftieth day after Passover, which is why the Greeks call the Feast of Harvest Pentecost; Pentecost is the Greek word for fifty. Accordingly, 3,000 souls were added to the church that day as a great spiritual harvest.

Remember, the Feast of Harvest was the celebration of the beginning of the harvest, and we are still in that season. That means you are in a season of harvest, breakthroughs, and fruitfulness. Psalm 65:11 NLT says, “You [God] crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.” As we approach the middle of the year and are in “harvest season,” ensure you align your prayers with this prophetic season. Your year must be crowned with a bountiful harvest.

And this is the season to ask God for a harvest from the good seeds you have sown. Whether you have planted your time, finances, service, sacrifice, or even tears, this is the harvest season—the reaping season. There is a post-Pentecost breakthrough coming. Get ready. It’s time to exchange tears for reaping, and let Psalm 126 be your prayer point.

Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest. (Psalm 126:5-6 NLT)
