Pray for America?

Prayer flows naturally when you genuinely care for the person or object of your prayer. But for many who live in America, there are barriers to a flow of genuine prayer for the country. Like bittersweet delicacies, America has served good and bad experiences for many of her constituents. So, they have to overcome memories of negative experiences like racism, gentrification, gender bias, and more. Still, as believers, we must allow God to heal our hearts and focus on the important biblical reasons to pray for America.

It’s important to remember that the peace of the country you live in affects your peace. For example, riots and civil conflict affect innocent bystanders, including children, and COVID-19 did not discriminate in the way that so many plagued by ignorance do. We were all impacted in one way or another. The entire country was impacted. Thus, we have practical examples of the reality of Jeremiah 29:7 ERV:

“Also, do good things for the city I sent you to. Pray to the Lord for the city you are living in, because if there is peace in that city, you will have peace also.”

Jeremiah 29:7 ERV

While America is not perfect, no country is, and as believers, we do have an obligation to pray for her. With that in mind, I want to share that we pray for America during our times of midnight prayer. And last Thursday, in prayer, we were reminded to pray for America more than ever.

During midnight prayer, God revealed that anti-God nations were coming together to collaborate and conspire to pass evil decrees, policies, and acts that would not favor the people of God and attack the nations that were in alignment with Israel. They were planning to attack America during the time of the presidential election, getting closer to November, and capitalizing on the media frenzy that would surround Trump in the election. They were planning to attack America while she was in transition and vulnerable during the election season. This is not the first time God has revealed terrorist attacks in the making. However, last Thursday night was different–it was raging, collaborative, coordinated, and another level of evil. Anti-God nations are imagining all kinds of evil.

So, yes, despite the reality of negative experiences, I encourage you to pray for America. Let’s pray against coordinated attacks on America and execute God’s judgment against it to avert crises.
