Transition to Testimony: The Second Half of the Year and Our Response

It has been said that a transition is moving from a place of certainty to a place of uncertainty. Anyone who has ever relocated, changed careers, or recovered from the loss of a loved one can relate. Uncertainty can be unsettling, and being uncertain of what is ahead is what makes change uncomfortable.

However, I am certain about this—God has promises for us in the second half of the year. There is no uncertainty about that. I’m convinced that despite the civil chaos, wars, rumors of war, and threats of terror, God still wants us to reap a great harvest in 2025. He can lead us through chaos, make a way through wilderness territory, and supply water in dry places (Isaiah 43:19)

Still, we have a part to play. When Daniel understood from the books that his people’s captivity should have ended after 70 years, but they were still in Babylon, he set himself to fast and pray. That was his response to uncertainty.

God had spoken these words to Jeremiah:

After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:10-11 NKJV)

God put an expiration date on His people’s captivity, specifically, 70 years. However, Daniel discovered that 70 years had already passed in Babylon, and he and the rest of God’s people were still in captivity. Daniel said, “I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem” (Daniel 9:2 NKJV). It seems Daniel was the only one paying attention to prophecy.

Upon his discovery, his response was to put himself on a fast and cry out to God. He said, “Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes” (Daniel 9:3 NKJV). Indeed, when we see that troubles that should have expired have been prolonged and blessings that should have manifested have been delayed, we need to cry out in fasting and prayer.

When we see that troubles that should have expired have been prolonged and blessings that should have manifested have been delayed, we need to cry out in fasting and prayer.

Daniel continued in prayer, repenting on behalf of his nation and asking God to have mercy on them. And there’s something he prayed that we must also pray for the second half of our year. He prayed, “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name” (Daniel 9:19 NKJV, italics added).

Yes! We must cry out in fasting and prayer, as Daniel did, and ask the Lord to hear, forgive, listen, and act. We must cry out, “Do not delay for Your own sake!”

Remember, God told Jeremiah He would visit his people and perform His good word for them. However, the performance was delayed, which was primarily due to sin but also because nobody was paying attention or crying out to God. We need God to visit us and perform His good word concerning our lives, families, children, businesses, ministries, and more in the second half of the year.

We must pay attention. We must cry out, “Oh Lord, perform your good word!” That is how we will transition from uncertainty to testimony.
